Welcome to Lindy Jazz! We dance LINDYHOP, SWING and BLUES in Newcastle.
Commencing February we will be holding the Blues Club on the first Tuesday of every month at Quayside Bar, 35 The Close, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE1 3RN
Say hello, get involved, join us. We’re the friendliest lindyhop/swing/blues group in the North East!This is the place for details of regular weekly classes, specialist workshops, sumptuous party nights and special events.

Never danced before? Don’t panic. Joo-Lee and Andy are gifted teachers who’ll banish any fear of the dancefloor. There are ample experienced dancers who are specially selected for their friendliness to help you, and a refresher session at the bar afterwards so you’ll be holding your own in no time.There’s no need to come with a partner, and our venues usually come fully equipped with a bar, so if all else fails, someone can hand you a Tequila Sunrise or two..

The Backstep Boogie Club offers dance lessons in a Club environment on weekday evenings.I teach a blend of Boogie Woogie, 20s Charleston, 30s Charleston, Jazz Moves, Modern Jive, Rock n'Roll and Swing Jive (East & West Coast), with a bit of Balboa, Ballroom Jive and Lindy Hop thrown in.I also teach all the Strolls prevalent in the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s and 1950s as well as 1 or 2 newly devised Strolls

You will learn to replace buttons, add new collars and cuffs, add trimmings, as appropriate to your garments and requirements. and turn unused garments into new objects. Either use bits and pieces you have found or root through our trim and button box.This class will not only help you revamp your wardrobe but turn you into a canny bargain shopper. How often have you not bought the £5 sale trousers cos they were too long, or a fab markdown silk frock cos the beads were coming off or the zip was dodgy. After this that won't happen again.
