Original WW2 air raid shelters under our school, over the past 18 months they have been lovingly restored into a wonderful museum and we open to the public in May with tours and 1940’s fair above ground on each of the dates. Take Shelter at Downs Junior School, Brighton, will be open again to the public throughout the middle two weekends of May - 13th/14th & 20th/21st. Tickets for pre-booking tours will be available between 10 a.m -12 noon, via The Brighton Fringe festival. For those wanting to just turn up on the day, tours will be running between 12 noon-4pm please do arrive early to secure your tour. Above ground on each event day from midday we will have a 1940’s themed fair with a different Live Music Act (see Facebook for details). As well as Dancing, Stalls, Tea & Cake you can also meet our Guest WW2 Veterans or try some of our 1940’s activities for both kids and adults.
