Step back to the 1940s and experience Home Front life in wartime Britain during the Second World War. Step aboard our Victorian carriages and take a trip along our 3 mile railway hauled by a steam locomotive.
Stations will feature period posters, music and men, women and children in 1940s uniforms and clothing. At Andrews House station visit the Railway Transport Officer, enjoy a pint in the Station Master's bar and enjoy 40s tunes courtesy of the Seatones.
At Marley Hill, take a look at a selection of vehicles and see what the Field Kitchen are cooking up for the soldiers.
The Home Guard will be on hand for when you arrive - make sure to collect your ID card from them! Sample some vinegar cake and find out how we cooked and managed with shortages during the war years.
There'll be tap-footing tunes by City Swing and a selection of traders and exhibitors. At East Tanfield station, find out more about collieries during the WWII and be entertained by George Formby!
