The Haven Museum 1940s Open Day Sunday 19 September 2010, 11am – 4pm Langdon Visitor Centre, Third Avenue, Lower Dunton Road, Basildon SS16 6EB Why not take a trip down memory lane and step back in time? Come and spend a day in the 1940s! Come and join us for our annual fun-filled Haven Open Day and learn about the Plotlands with a tour of our 1930s/40s bungalow and have fun with authentic toys and memorabilia of a bygone era, listen to the gramophone and take a look at our vegetable garden and genuine Anderson Shelter. How about a wander through the Plotlands trail, can you discover more evidence of the past? Listen to some fantastic live music and storytelling and join in with entertaining games, activities and face painting. Discover more about wartime rationing and evacuees as well as some of the ‘weird and wonderful’ items we have at The Haven - plus lots more! If all of the activities leave you feeling a little hungry and thirsty, don’t worry as we will have delicious refreshments and produce for sale. So come along and encounter a piece of local history and take a glimpse at what life was like on the infamous Plotlands - join in the fun of the 40s (dressing up optional)!
